Franktown Colorado Horse Property

Franktown Colorado Horse Property

There is a lot of history surrounding Franktown, Colorado.  Originally it was named Frank’s Town after James Frank Gardner and was eventually renamed Franktown in 1961 and became the designated county seat of Douglas County, Colorado. There are some really old historic buildings such as the first post office in the area which opened in 1862. In 1908 the Pikes Peak Grange #163 was built. Prior to this grange Fonder Grange was formed in 1875.

Franktown back then came all the way through what we now call The Pinery and supplied timber to Denver during the 1860’s. Today there are many subdivisions in Franktown, some of which I will outline below that are excellent options if you’re hunting for horse properties.

Deerfield:

Deerfield is a large subdivision to the south of Hwy. 86. A main access is Russellville Rd. off Hwy. 83. Most of the lots are 5 acres and allow for horses so many of the properties have barns and arenas on the properties. Super easy access to several top notch boarding facilities for those that wish to stable their horses. These are all custom homes in a beautiful tree filled setting with amazing views and easy access. Known for being an upscale community, homes are in high demand. Just minutes away is Castlewood Canyon State Park, an oasis for superior views and amazing hiking & horseback riding trails, biking and rock climbing.

Bannockburn:

Bannockburn was developed in the 1980’s and still remains  one of the largest rural subdivisions, located just south of Parker, CO built along Hwy. 83. Property sites range in size from 5-10 acres. Many properties boost equestrian facilities such as barns, outbuildings, horse fencing and corrals. The domestic wells may be used to water your animals. Highly acclaimed Douglas County schools that accommodate this subdivision include Franktown Elementary, Sagewood Middle School and Ponderosa High School. Bannockburn is an absolutely gorgeous subdivision with so many custom homes, trees galore and killer views.

Burning Tree Ranch:

Nestled in the trees on prime equine real estate there are approximately 68 homes on mostly 3-7 acre lots. Lot prices start in the mid 200’s and homes are all custom and start around $500,00. There is easy access to a 40 acre bridle path to enjoy those peaceful rides through the open country. The homes are on Douglas County maintained roads. There is high demand for homes in this subdivision and it’s almost a rarity that one comes on the market.  An excellent choice for Franktown Colorado horse property!

There is a great diversity in Franktown Colorado horse property, which boasts between 26-36 subdivisions – the majority of which are horse friendly.  So if you’re searching for upper end homes that are close in  to the Denver metro area, Franktown is a terrific place to start your search.  If you’re curious to learn more about Franktown Colorado Horse property, give the Colorado Horse homes team a call.
